[Log and transcript] [manuscript]. 1852-2003.

Log kept during the voyage from Gravesend to Melbourne in 1852 on board "The Helen" by Dr. John Johnston, ships surgeon. Includes two letters written by J.M. Johnston, brother of Dr. Johnston, to his wife Alicia, describing Dr. Johnston's illness and death. Also includes a declaration by J.M. Johnston and a declaration by David Dalzell, dated 1853 and stating he believes Dr. Johnston was ill and died shortly after his arrival in Australia. The typed transcript was probably prepared ca. 2003.
